About

Ok, so I'm finally going to write some actual information about the game.

WHAT IS DUCT-TAPE WARRIOR?
That's easy. It's a game that I'm making for Xbox 360 and Windows using Microsoft's XNA Game Studio (3.0 to be precise). The game concept is that it is a 2d RPG/Adventure game that is set in the kingdom of Padia. All the characters will be made out of different kinds of tape, with the main character obviously being made of duct-tape.

WHY TAPE?
That's easy too. I'm not an artist in the graphical sense. I am handy with Photoshop but I can by no means draw original graphics that look good. See for yourself! I'll definitely need some more artistic friends to help me with some of the difficult graphical parts.
Also, another reason is so that I can use tape-based instances of humor! A homeless piece of tape named "Shoe Hole" for example.
There is a story behind why I actually chose tape but it's kind of weird (it involves a port-o-john) so I wont tell it here. Well, maybe I will someday.

RPG/ADVENTURE GAME? WHUT?
Yes. A cross between two disparate styles. Diablo/Grim Fandango, Baldur's Gate/Monkey Island, D&D/Space Quest! If you're like me, that sounds totally cool doesn't it! Well, making a game like that is my goal. I would love to be as funny as those old Lucas Arts games and as fun as the the classic Blizzard RPG. But, I'm no professional. The less I expect from my game the better it will seem!

AND WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Here's a description from the game design doc:
The kingdom of Padia was at the height of it's power. Never in history was a land so well governed, it's good people so well fed and so very pleased. It seemed that there were none in the land who wanted to cause any mischief whatsoever... until one night when the duct-tape king was king-napped by sneaky silhouetted assailants.

...that was about 8 hours ago...

Now, the greatest warriors and detectives in all the land are being called upon to find the king and get him back! You, as either a warrior or detective, are assigned to that task.

Whew it was nice to finally get that out. I guess by "soon" what I meant was "in about a month". Well, rest assured (if anyone has actually been waiting for this) I have been working on the game design. What a concept eh? It's coming along very nicely and I'm having fun doing it.

The First Ever Duct-Tape Warrior Concept Art Extravaganza (Well not quite...)

I've been working diligently this week on the game design. You can expect more details about what this game will actually be very soon! But for now you get this...

The first ever Duct-Tape Warrior concept art! There's the warrior himself!

And here's one of the game's early bosses!

And here's the king of Padia's majestic palace!

Okay, you got me. This was kind of a joke... yeah, yeah.
But I was serious when I said that some real details were coming soon. Stay tuned!

Blog Design

It's finally done. The equivalent of 3 days of hard work are over and this blog design is the result. It's based on the graphics of Duct-Tape Warrior (the game design I'm working on) and will serve as the official home of said game.

I have one more remark to make before I finally go to bed.
That "menu" on the left will get longer as I continue to post news about the game. Right now all there is is a link to my "Contact Me" post. Before the end of the week I'll put up some concept art and things like that for you.

I'm extremely excited about this project! It's good to finally have a home for Duct-Tape Warrior. Up until today it only existed as a game design document in my Google Docs. This is a milestone!
I hope you enjoy the fruits of my labor.

What do you think of the blog design? Let me know in the comments.

Purpose

Welcome to the internet home of Duct-Tape Warrior. Duct-Tape Warrior is a game I am going to be designing and programming myself.

Two reasons for making a game:

fun

school project

I plan on using the game as a topic for this website which is for my Dynamic Web class and also for the final project in my Technical Writing class.
